The Tanzania Public Bar Association (TPBA) was established under Section 16A (4) of the Office of Attorney General (Discharge of Duties) Act, Cap 268, which mandated the Attorney General to form the association. The TPBA was officially established in 2019 through Government Notice (GN) No. 589, published on August 16, 2019, and officiated on September 29, 2022. The mandate of TPBA is to create a professional Association for lawyers in public service to deliberate and discuss various legal issues for the efficiency of the legal system.
The members of this Association are all State Attorneys who have registered in the Office of Attorney General Management Information System (OAG - MIS)
In executing its mandated functions TPBA is committed to being the ultimate legal professionals’ Association for the public by promoting legal professionalism. The Association is guided by principles that should be adhered to by all TPBA members, the major guiding principles include professionalism, integrity, teamwork, confidentiality, creativity and innovation.
