GOVERNMENT COMMUNICATION UNIT
OBJECTIVE
To provide expertise and service on information, communication and dialogue with public and media, This Unit is led by a Principal Information Officer.
FUNCTIONS OF GOVERNMENT COMMUNICATION UNIT
The Unit performs the following activities:
- To
prepare, supervise, and distribute various publications including brochures,
newsletters, magazines, news articles, features, and posters to inform and
educate the public on the Office’s mandate and performance
- Ensures accurate, timely and consistent messages
reach the public and stakeholders;
- Develops and implements communication strategies
and plans;
- Supports Leadership messages to public and
stakeholders;
- Handles crisis communication and reputation risks;
- To facilitate communication between OAG and
Public/Stakeholders;
- To manages public perception and OAG branding;
- To
coordinate and conduct press conferences, media dialogues, as well as issuing
official Press Releases on various matters;
- Coordinating
interviews, press briefings, and press conferences for the Attorney General and
Deputy Attorney General;
- Responding
to media inquiries;
- To
manage OAG website and social media platforms;
- To
coordinate preparation and production of feature articles for newspapers and
journals regarding the implementation of activities by the Office of the
Attorney General (OAG);
- To
coordinate the production and broadcasting of radio and television programs
aimed at educating and informing the public and stakeholders about the
functions and achievements of the OAG;
- To
Conduct comprehensive media monitoring across radio, television, newspapers,
and social media platforms to keep staff informed and provide professional
advice on matters affecting the Office;
- To
promote Office activities through collaboration with media houses and
participating in national exhibitions such as Sabasaba, Law Week, and Legal
Clinic Week;
- To
supervise, uploading and updating information on the OAG website and social
media; and
- Collaborating
with stakeholders, particularly the media, to strengthen partnerships and build
a positive relationship between the Office of the Attorney General and its
stakeholders.
