COORDINATION AND ADVISORY SERVICES DIVISION
OBJECTIVE
To provide general coordination of the office mandates and the provision of legal advice to MDAs, other Government institutions and organization services on legal matters. This Division led by a Director and Assistant Directors
DIVISION SECTIONS
The Division comprise three (3) Sections as follows:-
- Coordination Section;
- Advisory Services Section; and
- Contracts Negotiation and Management Section.
FUNCTIONS OF DIIVISION
The Division performs the following functions: -
- To advise the Attorney General on general supervision of Law Officers, State Attorneys and other staff appointed or employed in the Office of the Attorney General, Ministries, independent departments, executive agencies and local government authorities;
- To provide and oversee the provision of legal advice in accordance with the mandate of the Office, including the oversight of decisions and filings;
- To organize and supervise legal research on highly complex legal issues, prepare legal opinions, studies, briefs, reports and correspondences;, in close coordination with the Division of Contracts and Treaties;
- To develop legal databases in relation to the clusters of which legal advice may be required by the Government;
- To prepare or oversee the development of standards operating procedures, instructions and protocols required by operational activities of the Office of the Attorney General in coordination with relevant Divisions,
- To manage, organize and prioritize the legal workload, and provide general supervision and coordination of various assignments in coordination with relevant Divisions,
- To liaise and advise MDAs on legal advisory matters and update the Attorney General accordingly;
- To advise on reports from the Solicitor-General and the Director of Public Prosecutions for further advise to the Government, the National Assembly and the Judiciary; and
- To analyse reports and advise the Office on the general performance of Law Officers, State Attorneys and other staff appointed or employed in the Office of the Attorney General as well as Ministries, independent departments, executive agencies and local government authorities.
