The Attorney General and Chairperson of the Workers' Council of the Office of the Attorney General, Hon. Hamza S. Johari, has stated that the Office is prepared to undertake reforms across various laws to meet the objectives of National Vision 2050.

The Attorney General made these remarks during the Workers' Council meeting held on April 27, 2026, in Arusha.

"We will ensure that the Office of the Attorney General serves as a catalyst for achieving the goals of Vision 2050," stated the Attorney General.

Speaking during the opening of the Council, Hon. Johari explained that National Vision 2050 aims for an accountable public service. Consequently, the expectation is to have a workforce that operates with efficiency, accountability, integrity, transparency, and a firm stance against corruption.

"It is evident that Workers' Councils are vital tools for the welfare of employees, the institution, and the Nation in reaching the targets of Vision 2050," he added.

Hon. Johari expressed his gratitude to the Sixth Phase Government, led by Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, for providing the necessary resources and working tools. These provisions have enabled staff to execute their duties with greater ease.

Furthermore, the Attorney General urged employees to utilize their working hours effectively by performing their duties with diligence and professionalism. This, he noted, would allow the Office to continue fulfilling its constitutional and legal mandates through the provision of high-quality, efficient, and productive legal services to all stakeholders.

"I believe that from this meeting, you will emerge with decisions that will enable this Office to move even further forward," he said.

Presenting the implementation report of the Office's budget plan, the Deputy Attorney General, Hon. Samwel M. Maneno, revealed significant achievements between July 2025 and March 2026; A total of 2,324 National, Regional, and International contracts were vetted against a target of 2,000—representing a 116% implementation rate.

The Office vetted 396 Memorandum of Understanding out of a planned 600 (66%).

These included procurement, construction, building renovations, social service delivery (schools, hospitals, and roads), professional services, and goods procurement.

The Office received 1,897 requests for legal advice from Ministries, Independent Departments, Public Corporations, Regional Secretariats, Local Government Authorities, and other stakeholders.

Hon. Maneno also highlighted that the Office has successfully coordinated the Legal Advisory Committees at Regional and District levels by launching and operating free Legal Aid Clinics in Manyara, Simiyu, and Dar es Salaam.

To improve the working environment, the Office is integrating its OAG-MIS system with the Case Management Systems of the Office of the Solicitor General and the Judiciary of Tanzania.

Earlier, while presenting the staff address, the TUGHE Chairperson (OAG Branch), Mr. Rashidi Kigalu, commended the leadership for improving staff welfare and working conditions.

"On behalf of the staff, I extend sincere thanks to the Attorney General, the Deputy Attorney General, and the entire Management for enhancing benefits and the work environment," said Mr. Kigalu.

The Workers' Council members held elections to fill leadership positions. Mr. William Mudogo was elected as Secretary and Ms. Fay Grace Sadallah as Assistant Secretary, succeeding Ms. Beatrice Nzobonaliba and Mr. Hassan Nkya, who completed their terms
