LEGAL ADVISORY COMMITTEES LAUNCHED IN KATAVI, CITIZENS PROVIDED WITH FREE LEGAL SERVICES

The Office of the Attorney General, in collaboration with the Katavi Regional Commissioner's Office, has launched Regional and District-level Legal Advisory Committees in Katavi Region. The launch took place on September 8, 2026, followed by a free legal clinic that commenced on September 7, 2026, at the Azimio Grounds in Mpanda.

The launch of the Legal Advisory Committees and the free legal clinic reflects the sincere commitment of the Government, through the Office of the Attorney General, to resolve disputes, offer legal advice, and provide free legal education to the public.

Speaking in her opening address, the Mpanda District Commissioner, Hon. Jamila Yusuph, explained that resolving disputes in the lives of Tanzanians is not the responsibility of the government alone, but a shared responsibility among all development stakeholders.

The District Commissioner served as the guest of honor, representing the Katavi Regional Commissioner, Hon. Mwanamvua Hoza Mrindoko, at the launch of the Regional and District Standing Legal Advisory Committees in Katavi Region on September 8, 2026, at the Azimio Grounds, Mpanda.

Speaking at the event, she emphasized the importance of citizens utilizing the opportunities provided by the Office of the Attorney General through these committees and the legal clinic to gain education, advice, and clarification on various legal matters.

Expressing her gratitude to the Attorney General, Hon. Hamza S. Johari, she noted that bringing legal advisory services closer to the residents of Katavi Region will address the legal challenges facing citizens.

“I thank Hon. Hamza Johari, the Attorney General, along with his office and the Katavi Regional Standing Legal Advisory Committee, for collaborating with my office to successfully organize this launch ceremony for the Legal Advisory Committee and the Free Legal Clinic in Katavi Region,” said Hon. Jamila Yusuph.

She added that the presence of the Regional and District Legal Advisory Committees will help strengthen the coordination of legal services and ensure citizens understand their responsibilities as well as the legal procedures to follow when facing various challenges.

She urged the residents of Katavi and surrounding areas to fully utilize the free legal clinic opportunity, particularly those in need of legal education and advice.

Earlier, while welcoming the guest of honor, Mr. Nehemia James, Head of the Department of Economy and Production for Katavi Region, representing the Katavi Regional Administrative Secretary, thanked the Office of the Attorney General for bringing legal advisory services closer to the people of Katavi Region.

“We are very grateful to the Office of the Attorney General for bringing this free legal clinic to the citizens of Katavi Region; without a doubt, it is of great benefit to the residents of our region,” said Mr. Nehemia.

The launch of the Legal Advisory Committee for Katavi Region officially took place on September 8, 2026, while the free legal clinic continues at the Azimio Grounds in Mpanda, providing citizens with free legal consultation services from September 7, 2026, to September 13, 2026.
