Legal Advisory Committees and Free Legal Clinic Launched in Simiyu

The Simiyu Regional Commissioner (RC) has directed Legal Advisory Committees to ensure they reach citizens, particularly those in rural areas, to facilitate timely and affordable access to justice.

Speaking on February 3, 2026, during the launch of the Legal Advisory Committees and Free Legal Clinic at the CCM Bariadi grounds, Hon. Anamringi Macha stated that the establishment of these committees is a significant step toward strengthening the rule of law and ensuring justice for all.

"The Government is sincerely committed to ensuring every citizen attains justice without obstacles. These committees serve as a vital bridge between the people and the justice system, especially for those unable to afford legal fees," said Hon. Macha.

The Regional Commissioner further emphasized that the legal committees at both regional and district levels must execute their duties with professionalism, integrity, and diligence.

Hon. Macha extended his gratitude to the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) for bringing the free legal clinic services to the Simiyu region.

"I sincerely thank the Attorney General for these committees being launched today in Simiyu. Through these committees, citizens will receive legal services to address the various legal challenges they face," he added.

Representing the Attorney General, Ms. Neema Ringo, the Director of Coordination and Legal Advisory Services, noted that the launch is part of the Government’s policy and strategy to ensure legal services are available to all without discrimination.

"The Office of the Attorney General will continue to collaborate with regions and local government authorities to ensure these committees operate efficiently and in accordance with the law," Ms. Ringo stated.

The Simiyu Regional Administrative Secretary (RAS), Ms. Prisca Kayombo, remarked that the committees would help reduce unnecessary social conflicts, as citizens will now receive expert advice before disputes escalate.

"Many land, marriage, inheritance, and labor disputes have been increasing due to a lack of legal education. These clinics will provide direct assistance and offer early solutions," said Ms. Kayombo.

The launch ceremony was attended by government officials, legal professionals, justice stakeholders, and residents of Simiyu. The free legal clinic commenced services immediately upon the launch and will continue to operate at the CCM Bariadi grounds until February 8, 2026.
