The Land Transport Regulatory Authority (LATRA) and the Office of the Attorney General held a two-day training aimed at exchanging experiences and strengthening understanding of roles and the implementation of laws in the transport sector.

The training took place on September 17 and 18, 2026, during which lawyers from the Office of the Attorney General visited LATRA to gain deeper knowledge of the Authority’s operations and the challenges encountered in carrying out its responsibilities.

Speaking at the opening of the training, LATRA’s Director General, Mr. Habibu Suluo, emphasized that this cooperation is vital since LATRA oversees road transport, railways, and cable transport, all of which depend on laws, regulations, and procedures. He added that shared understanding between LATRA and the Office of the Attorney General will help improve law enforcement, licensing, conflict resolution, and communication with citizens and stakeholders.

“By understanding how we carry out our duties, the areas we supervise, and the challenges we face, they will be able to advise us better and ensure the Government avoids unnecessary conflicts,” said Mr. Suluo.

On his part, the Regional Attorney for Morogoro Region, Mr. Iddi Mgeni, representing the Attorney General, stated that the training aims to learn how LATRA executes its responsibilities, the scope of its work, and the challenges it encounters in law enforcement.

“As the Office of the Attorney General, we are the Government’s chief legal advisors. Therefore, understanding what LATRA does and the challenges it faces will help us provide advice that meets the Authority’s actual needs,” said Mr. Mgeni.

The training for State Attorneys from the Office of the Attorney General on Law Enforcement in Transport was held from September 17 to 18, 2026 at LATRA offices in Dar es Salaam. Participants are expected to tour some of LATRA’s systems to learn how they operate and identify areas that require improvement and legal advice.
