ATTORNEY GENERAL AND CMT DISCUSS EFFICIENCY OF CAPITAL MARKETS LAWS
The Attorney General, Hon. Hamza Johari, met today, August 4, 2026, in Dar es Salaam, with the Registrar of the Capital Markets Tribunal (CMT), Dr. Martin Wilbert Kolikoli, to introduce himself and discuss various operational matters regarding the tribunal.
Speaking during the meeting, Hon. Johari stated that the Office of the Attorney General is continuing to review various national laws to facilitate the implementation of Vision 2050 and to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery. Hon. Johari further emphasized that capital markets are a vital tool in achieving Vision 2050, making it essential for related laws to align with the vision and the pace of global development.
For his part, Dr. Kolikoli outlined the responsibilities of the Capital Markets Tribunal, as well as the achievements recorded in the three years since its establishment. He also proposed amendments to laws governing capital markets, securities, and commodity markets, particularly in the areas of rights protection and dispute resolution.
Dr. Kolikoli presented Hon. Johari with a copy of the CMT journal and called on the Office of the Attorney General to collaborate with the CMT in raising public awareness about capital markets matters.
