The Office of the Attorney General participated in the 17th Investment Policy Forum (IPF) 2026, held from September 16–18, 2026, in Dar es Salaam.

The forum was organized by the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), which focuses on improving investment policies for sustainable development, particularly in developing countries.

The meeting brought together discussions among nations from Africa, Asia, the Pacific-Caribbean, and Latin America, with the central theme emphasizing the importance of creating an enabling framework to drive meaningful reforms in investment policies that deliver tangible benefits to countries.

Ms. Felista Lelo, Acting Assistant Director, and Mr. Mwita Chacha, State Attorney, represented the Office of the Attorney General at the forum.

Ms. Lelo delivered a presentation on reforms to the Investor–State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) system, highlighting challenges faced by developing countries, including excessive compensation awards by arbitration tribunals, high costs and lengthy proceedings, third-party funding of cases, and claims based on projected future profits.

She further emphasized the need for a dispute resolution framework that aligns with the legal and policy environment of each country.
