THE ATTORNEY GENERAL HOLDS HIGH -LEVEL TALKS WITH SINGEPOREAN AMBASSADOR
The Attorney General of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Hamza S. Johari, held a high-level consultative meeting with the Ambassador of Singapore to Tanzania (resident in Singapore), H.E. Ambassador Douglas Foo. The meeting took place on February 25, 2026, at the Attorney General’s Sub-Office in Dar es Salaam.
The discussions focused on several strategic areas of cooperation, most notably the importance of Tanzania signing and ratifying the United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation, widely known as the Singapore Convention on Mediation.
Both leaders emphasized the critical need for capacity building for State Attorney, for them to keep pace with rapid advancements in the global economy, international investment, trade, and technology.
Hon. Johari elaborated on the reality that as investment and trade volumes grow, legal disputes become inevitable. To maintain a competitive investment climate, he stressed the need to prioritize Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms.
The Attorney General extended his gratitude to Ambassador Foo for his visit, noting it as a testament to the strengthening ties following the Ambassador’s previous visit last year.
Ambassador Douglas Foo expressed Singapore’s readiness to partner with Tanzania in driving legal reforms. He confirmed Singapore’s commitment to sharing its world-class expertise in Digital laws and Governance, Data Protection and Privacy Frameworks, Anti-Corruption Strategies.
The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to develop a joint action plan to serve as a roadmap for the implementation of the agreed-upon cooperation.
