TANGA RESIDENTS URGED TO ATTEND LAUNCH OF LEGAL ADVISORY COMMITTEES AND FREE LEGAL CLINIC

Residents of Tanga and neighboring regions have been encouraged to turn out in large numbers for the official launch of the Regional Legal Advisory Committees and a subsequent free legal aid clinic.

The call was made by the Tanga Regional Commissioner, Hon. Ambassador Dr. Batilda Burian, on March 4, 2026, while addressing members of the press at her office. She announced that the legal clinic will be held from March 9 to March 15, 2026, at the Tangamano grounds in Tanga City.

The Regional Commissioner noted that the establishment of these committees is a key government strategy to bring legal services closer to the people and resolve various social challenges and disputes.

"Regional and District Legal Advisory Committees have been established in accordance with the Office of the Attorney General (Discharge of Duties) Act. This is a government initiative to ensure citizens can easily access legal services to overcome the various conflicts and challenges they face," said Hon. Ambassador Dr. Batilda.

Hon. Dr. Batilda extended her gratitude to the Office of the Attorney General for approving and facilitating the clinic, ensuring that all services provided to the citizens will be free of charge.

"I am very grateful for the continued cooperation with the Office of the Attorney General and for their commitment to deploying State Attorneys to serve citizens dealing with various legal issues," the Regional Commissioner added.

Furthermore, Hon. Ambassador Dr. Batilda Burian explained that these advisory committees will have a permanent mandate to provide guidance on the best ways to resolve disputes at the regional and district levels. This move is expected to significantly reduce the backlog of cases in the court system.

The legal clinic is expected to be launched on March 9, 2026, by the Tanga Regional Commissioner, Hon. Ambassador Dr. Batilda Burian. This will be followed by a free legal aid clinic held from March 9 to March 15, 2026, at the Tangamano grounds in Tanga.
