Law day celebration 2026
The Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Emmanuel Nchimbi, served as the Guest of Honor, representing the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, at the National Law Day celebrations. The event took place at the Judiciary grounds in Dodoma on February 2, 2026.
While delivering greetings from the President, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Nchimbi expressed his gratitude to the Chief Justice of Tanzania for inviting President Samia Suluhu Hassan to lead the celebrations.
In his address, the Vice President emphasized the Government’s firm commitment to ensuring that the Judiciary continues to dispense justice, serving as a vital pillar for social welfare, economic development, and the preservation of national peace.
“The Judiciary is the pillar that ensures justice is accessible to all without partiality, fear, or any form of oppression,” stated the Vice President.
Furthermore, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Nchimbi noted that the Government would continue to collaborate with the Judiciary in infrastructure development, strengthening human resources, and bringing judicial services closer to the citizens.
The Chief Justice of Tanzania, Hon. George Masaju, affirmed that the Judiciary would remain dedicated to delivering justice to ensure it contributes to the well-being and development of the citizens and the nation at large.
“The presence of justice in judicial decisions contributes to peace and brotherhood among citizens, thereby enabling them to carry out their social, economic, and political activities effectively,” said the Chief Justice.
Earlier, the Deputy Attorney General, Hon. Samwel M. Maneno, representing the Attorney General, stated that the Office of the Attorney General will continue to work closely with the Judiciary to ensure citizens access legal services and justice more easily.
The Deputy Attorney General further explained that his office, in collaboration with various stakeholders in the legal sector, has initiated reforms in laws, policies, plans, and strategies. This includes conducting professional research to ensure all matters pertaining to the legal industry are aligned with the goals of Vision 2050.
“The Office of the Attorney General, along with its subsidiary institutions, has begun implementing robust strategies to ensure that legal frameworks do not become an obstacle but rather a friendly catalyst in achieving the goals and expectations of Vision 2050,” said the Deputy Attorney General.
The 2026 National Law Day was held under the theme: “The Contribution of the Judiciary to the Welfare of National Development.”
