DEPUTY ATTORNEY GENERAL HOLDS STRATEGIC TALKS WITH LAW REFORM COMMISSION TO ALIGN LAWS WITH VISION 2050
The Deputy Attorney General (DAG), Hon. Samwel M. Maneno, has met with a delegation from the Law Reform Commission of Tanzania (LRCT) led by the Commission's Executive Secretary, Mr. George Mandepo.
The meeting was held at the Office of the Attorney General in Mtumba, Dodoma.
The primary focus of the deliberations was to establish the best modalities for implementing directives issued by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan. The President recently instructed both the Attorney General’s Office and the Law Reform Commission to ensure that comprehensive legal reforms are undertaken to support the vision 2050.
During the session, the leaders discussed the necessity of conducting rigorous research and legal reviews in key strategic areas such as Investment and Digital Trade, Human Resources and Energy Sector to ensure creation of opportunities for a modern, fast-growing economy.
The Deputy Attorney General was supported by a technical team including, Assistant Director International Agreements, Mr. Sunday Hyera Principal State Attorney, Dr. Shadrack Jaba, Assistant Director of Law Revision from the Office of the Chief Parliamentary Draftsman, Mr. Chiki Chota and State Attorney, Mr. Nyamhanga Nyamhanga.
In addition, those accompanying the Executive Secretary of the Law Reform Commission, Mr. George Mandepo, during the meeting included, Mr. Burhan Kishenyi, Head of the Law Review Department; Ms. Juliana Munisi, Head of the Research Department; Ms. Zainab Chanzi, Head of the Public Legal Education Unit; and Dr. Annet Mnzava, Head of the Law Evaluation Section.
