ATTORNEY GENERAL SWORN IN AS COMMISSIONER OF THE JUDICIAL SERVICE COMMISSION
The Attorney General of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Hamza S. Johari, sworn in as a Commissioner of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC). The brief swearing-in ceremony took place at the Judicial Service Commission Conference Hall in Dodoma, on March 13, 2026.March 13, 2026
Hon. Johari took his oath of office before the Chairman of the Judicial Service Commission and Chief Justice of Tanzania, Hon. George M. Masaju, following his appointment as a member of the Commission.
The Attorney General’s membership in the Commission follows his reappointment to the position of Attorney General for a second term by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, in November 2025.
Furthermore, the swearing-in of the Attorney General as a Commissioner fulfills the requirements of the Judiciary Administration Act No. 4, Cap 237. This law mandates that every Commissioner must be sworn in by the Chairman of the Judicial Service Commission before officially commencing their duties.
Alongside Hon. Johari, other members of the Judicial Service Commission who were sworn in include, Judge of the Court of Appeal Hon. Gerson Mdemu, Advocates Mr. Thomas Nyanduga and Ms. Dorcas Mutabuzi.
