Hamza S. Johari was appointed as The Attorney General of The United Republic of Tanzania on August 14, 2024. Prior to this appointment, he was the Director General  of Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority  serving for the post for about ten years. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Law and Masters Degree in International Law from University of Kiev, Republic of Ukraine. He holds a certificate of Aviation Law from International Law Institute of Kampala and Certificate of Leadership and Management from Administrative Staff College of India. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate Degree (PHD) in International Air Law.

He is the Chairman of Civil Air Navigation Services Organization (CANSO) for African Region and CANSO Executive Committee Member. He is the Chairman of SADC Civil Aviation Commission and the Chairman of National Civil Aviation Security Committee as well as a Board Member of East African Community Civil Aviation Safety and Security Oversight Agency (EAC – CASSOA). He is a former member of East Africa Air Transport Facilitation Committee. He was a former State Attorney at the Ministry of Justice and a Legal Counsel and Company Secretary for Ranger Safaris Tanzania Limited.

He was a visiting lecturer in Aviation Laws and International Law of Carriage at the following institutions: University of Dar es Salaam, National Institute of Transport and Mzumbe University. Mr. Hamza Johari is an Associate Consultant on Transport and Regulatory Laws Matters at Eastern & Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI).
